The 2014-15 Golden State Warriors won the franchise's first championship since the 1975 title won by Rick Barry and Co. 40 years ago. They're a sentimental pick here, since fans are still basking in the afterglow of their success, but they're also a surefire choice from a stats perspective.
During the regular season, the squad including MVP Stephen Curry, Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Draymond Green, Finals MVP Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson, Andrew Bogut and others ranked as the No. 1 defensive team and No. 2 offensive team by defensive and offensive rating, respectively.
Historically speaking, teams that go on to win the title have had to be at least top 15 in each of those categories. The Dubs were one-two on defense-offense. First-year head coach Steve Kerr did a brilliant job molding a cohesive unit, and the end result was what you might expect, given those impressive stats.
