Because of the depth of great teams in Portland Trail Blazers’ history, their lone championship team gets the nod partly by default.
Now, that doesn’t by any means belittle Portland’s 1976-77 title winner, but its 49-33 regular season mark was less impressive than 12 other Trail Blazers squads—so that’s worth noting.
Nevertheless, the 1977 champs featured a vintage Bill Walton—before numerous injuries severely limited his elite talent—as well as a dominant power forward in Maurice Lucas. They beat the Bulls, Nuggets, Lakers and 76ers on their title run.
