Indianapolis, IN. The
American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced its pre-season
Power Rankings and last year’s league champion, the Jacksonville
Giants, topped the list. “With two consecutive league championships,
there was only one choice,” stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. “And we have a
very strong league this year with some fabulous teams. With nearly 90
teams competing, it was difficult to rank the teams, and we’ve
included a combination of experienced ABA teams with some brand new
teams that have put together extraordinary rosters of Division 1, 2 and
3 players, former NBA players and top international players. No
doubt, you’ll see a lot of movement in the Power Rankings when the
season begins in November…and a lot of new teams hitting the top 32.
We’re also pleased to welcome back the Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks
(formerly the Southwest Texas Mavericks) two time ABA champions.

many other teams that could easily be ranked – and the way that they
can get into the top 32 is very easy – play games, win games – and move
on up.”
