Paul's Triple-Double Keys Clippers
Chris Paul had 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in the Clippers' 107-101 victory over the Jazz.

LOS ANGELES -- Chris Paul stole defensive rebounds from his own big men, the Clippers got 39 points from their bench and it was all too much for the young Utah Jazz.
The Clippers won 107-101 on Monday night after blowing much of a 15-point lead and went 3-1 playing four games in five nights to start the season.
Paul notched the NBA's first triple-double of the season and his first with the Clippers, finishing with 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. He showed no ill effects after spraining his left foot a night earlier.
"We won, so that's all that matters," said Paul, who got 2 1/2 hours of treatment on his foot to be able to play.
Paul was the leading rebounder for the Clippers, who got outboarded 51-37.
"When he's going after rebounds like that, I guess it's hard for our bigs to crash," Utah's Gordon Hayward said. "A lot of those rebounds were defensive, so when our bigs are crashing, that can be a load down there."
Blake Griffin scored 31 points, Jamal Crawford added 19 to go over 15,000 in his career and Reggie Bullock scored all of his 12 points on 3-pointers for the Clippers.
Crawford had missed Sunday's loss to Sacramento because of bruised ribs and said he still feels only 70 percent. He returned to go over the milestone on a floating jumper at 6:53 of the fourth and has totaled 15,003 points in his 14-year career.
"It's a pretty good number," Crawford said. "I've been really consistent."
Hayward scored 27 points, Enes Kanter added 17 points and nine rebounds, and Alec Burks had 16 points for Utah, which has lost three of four.
"The kid is amazing," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said of Hayward. "I've had a man crush for two years."
There were eight lead changes, but the Jazz never led by more than two points. Their last lead came on Rudy Gobert's dunk early in the fourth. They got within one twice more, but the Clippers found ways to keep extending the lead.
"There were a lot of breakdowns, and that can't happen against a team like that," new Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "They know what they're doing and they're really connected, so it's tough to withstand that. You expend a lot of energy coming back, and they made plays down the stretch."
After struggling offensively in their first three games, the Clippers got untracked by shooting 51 percent and making 15 of 17 free throws.
The Jazz ran off 13 straight points to tie the game at 62 in the third. Hayward hit a 3-pointer and added a steal and layup in the spurt. Griffin and Paul combined to score eight straight before Bullock's fourth 3-pointer kept the Clippers ahead 73-70 going into the fourth.
PAUL'S TRIPLE
It was Paul's 12th career triple-double and the first for the Clippers since April 3, when Griffin had 25 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists against Dallas. "He did a great job coming in and stealing some of our rebounds," Griffin said.

Gasol Leads Grizzlies Past Pelicans
Marc Gasol scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Grizzlies' 93-81 win over the Pelicans.

MEMPHIS -- The New Orleans Pelicans discovered that the Memphis Grizzlies defense was as tough as advertised
The Pelicans were averaging 102.5 points and shooting 42 percent entering Monday night's game, but the Grizzlies -- the NBA's top defensive unit -- limited New Orleans to 34 percent shooting in a 93-81 loss to Memphis.
For the Grizzlies, the win was their 16th straight at home to set a franchise record. Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies with 16 points, Zach Randolph had 15 and Tayshaun Prince added 14.
Randolph had 11 rebounds to give him a double-double in each of the team's four games. Gasol (11 rebounds) and Tony Allen (12 points, 11 rebounds) also finished with double-doubles.
Tyreke Evans led the Pelicans (1-2) with 21 points. New Orleans was 4 of 24 from 3-point range. Anthony Davis, who was averaging 28 points, was held to 14.
"We shot terrible," Davis said. "We couldn't make shots. The ball just couldn't go in the bucket."
Memphis used its defense and rebounding -- a 52-49 advantage -- to overcome a lackluster shooting effort of its own. The Grizzlies shot 41 percent and guard Mike Conley missed eight of the 10 shots he attempted.
"We didn't go out and beat them 110-108," said Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger. "We got them in the mud and we got our hands and our bodies on people. We were very physical."
The Grizzlies limited the Pelicans to 13 points in the first quarter, one in which New Orleans shot 23 percent.
"Obviously in an NBA game there (are) going to be some tough shots taken because that's what NBA player do," said Pelicans coach Monty Williams. "But we had a number of open looks tonight. Ryan (Anderson) is not going to go 2-for-14. That just doesn't happen."
Despite their offensive struggles, the Grizzlies pulled away in the fourth quarter behind reserve Vince Carter and Prince. Carter's turnaround jumper gave the Grizzlies a 71-66 lead midway through the quarter and two minutes later Prince scored back-to-back baskets, the second a fast-break slam off a feed from Beno Udrih for a 76-68 lead. Quincy Pondexter added a key 3-pointer for an 81-72 advantage with 4:34 to go and in the closing minute two Allen free throws gave the Grizzlies their biggest lead at 93-79.
"They did a good job of front early in the game we got stagnant," Joerger said. "As good as we were defensively, offensively we were really slow. We were walking up the court."
The Grizzlies, who led by as many as 10 points in the first half, struggled from the floor in the third quarter. Memphis was 7 of 23 in the quarter and allowed the Pelicans to grab their first lead at 45-44 early in the period. But the Grizzlies recovered behind Gasol. Gasol scored 10 points during a two-minute stretch that allowed the Grizzlies to take a 60-48 lead.
TIP-INS

Pelicans: Return home to face Charlotte.
PIVOTAL MOMENT
After the Pelican's Davis scored with 6:51 to go in the fourth quarter to trim the Memphis lead to four points (72-68), Prince scored consecutive baskets to spark a 9-4 run to put the Grizzlies up by nine (81-72) with 4:33 to go in the game.

Nets Crush Thunder
Six Nets scored in double figures in Brooklyn's 116-85 win over Oklahoma City.

NEW YORK -- Brook Lopez couldn't explain how happy he was to be back, though his smile said enough.
For the Oklahoma City Thunder, it was more misery.
Lopez scored 18 points in his first regular-season game in about 11 months, leading the Brooklyn Nets to the biggest home-opening romp in franchise history, a 116-85 victory over the injury-depleted Thunder on Monday night.
"I can't put it in words," Lopez said. "It was great to be back out there. I've missed it for a long time and our team definitely took care of business tonight. Our guys make it easy."
Alan Anderson added 18 points and Deron Williams had 17 points and nine assists for the Nets, who got their leading scorer back on a night the Thunder, already without Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, lost yet another player to injury.
Reggie Jackson scored 23 points in his season debut after missing the first three games with a sprained right ankle, but the Thunder left just as short-handed as they entered when starting guard Andre Roberson sprained his left foot. He played just 11½ minutes of the first half and left on crutches. He won't play Tuesday at Toronto.
"That's just how things are going right now. But we're not throwing the white flag. We're going to keep battling," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said.
With only nine players available, Jackson logged 42 minutes, shooting 8 of 20.
"I played pretty terrible. That sums it up. Seven turnovers. Shot poorly. I felt like I let I let my team down," Jackson said.
Lopez was averaging a team-best 20.7 points when he broke his right foot last Dec. 20 against Philadelphia and had season-ending surgery. He was back for the start of training camp but sprained the foot during an exhibition game in China and missed the Nets' first two games.
He had played so little that coach Lionel Hollins joked before the game that he would watch the 7-footer to "make sure he doesn't trip over his tongue."
That wasn't a problem because Lopez got a quick rest, heading to the bench in less than three minutes after picking up two fouls. The Nets began building a big lead soon after, taking a 32-19 lead after going 5 of 7 from 3-point range in the first quarter.
Lopez shot 6 of 10 from the field and 6 of 7 from the foul line in 24 minutes, highlighted by a powerful dunk off a pass from Kevin Garnett in the first half.
"It was just good to see him have that bounce, explosion," Garnett said. "We know he's having foot problems. He's playing through a lot, man. And like I've said, if we're going to be anything, we're going to need the big fellow."
Brooklyn took a 59-40 lead to halftime when Bojan Bogdanovic and Mason Plumlee hooked up for an alley-oop to beat the buzzer.
The Nets led by as many as 35 in the second half, Durant standing in the coaches' huddle during timeouts with his broken right foot in a walking boot whenever Brooks tried unsuccessfully to halt Brooklyn's momentum.
The Thunder fell to 1-3, though this was the first time they were never really in the game. Perry Jones and Sebastian Telfair each finished with 16 points.

TIP-INS
Thunder: Oklahoma City had won five straight road games against the Nets, dating to when the franchise was based in New Jersey. ... Reserve Lance Thomas shot 1 of 10.
Nets: Garnett appeared in his 1,380th regular-season game, tying former Net Cliff Robinson for eighth on the career list. ... The Nets are 3-0 in home openers since moving to Brooklyn. The Empire State Building was shining black and white lights to celebrate this opener. ... The Nets will play four games during a weeklong homestand, including one against the rival New York Knicks on Friday.
BEYOND THE BORDERS
The Nets had Bogdanovic (Croatia), Andrei Kirilenko (Russia), Sergey Karasev (Ukraine), Jorge Gutierrez (Mexico) and Jerome Jordan (Jamaica) on the court together in the fourth quarter, the first time in franchise history they have played five international players at one time.
UP NEXT
Thunder: Visit Toronto on Tuesday, wrapping up an opening week that sends them 6,300 miles for five games, just one at home.
Nets: Host Minnesota on Wednesday.
